Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from airport to San Carlos de Bariloche city. Lodging at the cozy three-star hotel near the center of town. In the afternoon, there is a meeting to give you all the necessary information about the trip.
Days 2-5: Leaving the hotel early, drive one hour by vehicle along the beautiful Limay River towards the northeastern part of Bariloche, where you will enter the enchanting valley of Cuyin Manzano (old Apple Valley). Here, horses are waiting as well as the local gauchos (cowboys) that will teach you all about driving cattle in the coming days.
During the summer season the cattle reside in their grazing fields high up in the mountains. The first days you spend looking for cattle and driving them together. The last day is the 'big run' where you drive the cattle all together. Depending on the time of year, you either have to bring the cattle up or down the mountain.
Daily activities include: learning to throw a lasso, opening and closing gates by horse, chasing cattle, working with the cattle dogs, and learning cattle tricks by horse.
The nights are spent either in tents in the mountain or in a cabin in the valley. All meals and drinks are typical from the region and most of them will be eaten next to a cozy campfire.
On the last day, you reach base in the afternoon and have a nice time telling stories to the local family before heading back to Bariloche where city life awaits. The night is spent at the hotel.
Day 6: After a good breakfast transfer to the airport.
