Frontier Pack Train is run by Kent and Dave Dohnel, who have over 35 years of accumulated packing experience in the Sierras. Their staff of wranglers, cooks and assistants are some of the most experienced and personable men and women you will find at any packing operation.
Full service trips are designed to fit your personal needs and interests. A full camp is set up each evening with latrines and tents, and a back country kitchen for good old fashioned cooking. They match you up with gentle, well-mannered horses to suit your riding ability, beginner or expert.
Frontier Pack Train has many types of trips, ranging from their wild mustang trip, where they track and observe untamed wild mustangs, or their June Lake horse drive, when they take their horses and mules to their summer home at June Lake. They also run horsemanship clinics where you can learn wilderness etiquette, horse packing, pack equipment, and veterinary care. For those ambitious anglers, they have Golden trout fly fishing trips, and for those seeking privacy, they offer spot trips where they'll drop you, your party, and your equipment at a camp site on a lake or stream and then return on a predetermined day to return you home.
