What to Expect: An exceptional experience during which you will be galloping across open grassland, and trails, riding through canyons and mountains, on very old trails (the camino real used 300 years ago to transport silver to Mexico City), following beautiful rivers and exploring authentic Mexico with its gorgeous nature and unique landscapes, the real Mexican traditions, its exquisite gastronomy and culture and of course, the “charros” culture.
State of Jalisco: The state of Jalisco, worldwide known as “The Land of Tequila and Mariachi”, is a beautiful state with altitudes ranging from 4500 to 6000 feet. The weather is perfect all year long. The average temperature is 68F (20 Celcius). From December to February, the evenings get a bit chilled from and during daytime the suns warms everything up. The rainy season, from June to August, may bring a few hours of rain mostly at night with the sun present almost every day. This nice moderate weather, combined with its well established reputation for superior horsemanship, makes Lagos de Moreno a magnificent place for riders from many countries that want to experience a real horseback riding adventure.
The Haciendas are located near Lagos de Moreno, a beautiful colonial city in Jalisco, which throughout the centuries, has managed to keep its prestige, to the extent that its zone with historical monuments is officially recognized and is now presented as the best conserved historical center of the patrimony of Jalisco.
Riding: Hacienda Sepulveda offers two different kinds of riding experiences:
”10 Haciendas Ride” The 10 Haciendas is a good opportunity to see and feel the real Mexico: you will be riding from one hacienda to another, each day you will get to live and enjoy another hacienda, each one offers a variety of their own originality and charms, you will get to meet the friendly owners, even go riding with them on their trails and property. This is a perfect way to experience the soul of Mexico, it’s spectacular views of a landscape with cactus, Mesquite trees and Desert palms while enjoying long canters, excellent riding and a truer Mexican experience.
”Working Ranch & Cross Country Ride” This ride takes place at several working ranches: Hacienda El Ahito, Hacienda San Cayetano and El Monte Ranch. You will experience cattle drives, help local cowboys in their daily work on the ranch, checking and counting the cattle, learning the Mexican horsemanship in its true form! Of course, this will be combined with nice accommodations in a suite in the hotel Hacienda Sepúlveda where your body finds rest and tranquility after a day in the saddle.
