Overview
The 7D Ranch is located in Wyoming near the remote and beautiful Sunlight Basin, deep within the Shoshone National Forest. This dude and guest ranch provides a remote mountain location for those whose priorities include riding, fly fishing, hiking, relaxation and wilderness beauty. Visitors catch occasional glimpses of local wildlife - elk, deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, bears and a wide variety of birds - while riding and hiking into the surrounding Absaroka Wilderness.
The 7D Ranch began as a family operation. Dr. DeWitt Dominick (“Doc”), his wife Lee, and their five children ran cattle on the property and, in the summers, opened the ranch as a haven for friends from the East. Three generations later, little has changed at the 7D. While much of the Old West is quickly evolving, the 7D Ranch holds fast to tradition and offers guests a hearty slice of the West as it once was.
The 7D Ranch specializes in family vacations and promises a personalized stay in which your wishes and goals can be accommodated. The ranch offers riding for the entire family and a non-stop activity program for the children. 7D wranglers are pleased to offer group or individual riding instruction, half-day and all-day rides. The children’s program is excellent and 7D’s children’s counselors ensure children an experience they will not forget. The ranch also offers “Adults Only” weeks at discounted prices in September. Additionally, throughout the summer, the ranch arranges custom two- to ten-day pack trips to Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding national forest and wilderness land. 7D pack trips are an outstanding way in which to revitalize – truly an amazing and unique experience.
Ranch accommodations include 11 rustic and comfortable cabins spread throughout the ranch among aspen groves. Daily maid service is provided and laundry facilities are available. Meals are served family style in the Main Lodge dining hall, which also offers a cozy lounge with fireplace, piano and library. Guests rave about 7D’s gourmet meals, which are hearty, healthy and delicious. Across the lawn is the “Rec Hall” – it’s full of games, including pool and ping-pong tables. It holds square dances, children’s activities and film presentations.

Payments Accepted
Reservation Policy
A 50% deposit is required to secure all packtrips. Reservations for all trips into Yellowstone National Park are required as early in the year as possible. Backcountry campsite reservations are taken by the Park Backcountry Ranger office on a first-come/first-serve basis.
Cancellation Policy
Deposits, less a $100 booking fee, are refundable until February 28th. Cancellations made after February 28th will not receive a deposit refund, however, the deposit will be held for a packtrip or ranch vacation at a later date.
